The company behind Hemp Eyewear, which launched a range of sunglasses made from the fibrous stems of cannabis plants seven years’ ago, has stumbled into watches.
Edinburgh-based Hemp MVMNT launched its first timepieces on Kickstarter this week, and is closing in on hitting its £10,000 target raise in its first day with £7,404 pledged in pre-orders for the collection.
Hemp MVMNT watches have a single minimalist base design but can be customised with a choice of three dial colours, multiple strap options and each piece can be personalised with an engraved case back.

Cases are created from the compressed hemp material while straps are made of vegan pineapple leather straps.
A super early bird offer on Kickstarter will secure one of the watches for £68.
The company says that the world is moving towards a more positive relationship with hemp and other cannabis plant-based products, largely because of the popularity and legal availability of CBD oil in America.
One percent of revenue from each watch is being donated to 1% For The Planet, a charity promoting sustainability.
“Our whole business is based on hemp, so it is only right that we do our part to preserve the natural environment that provides us with this resource,” the company says.
